How Association Lit Works

Our Mission

Association Lit exists to promote reading as a shared community experience across Egypt. We connect readers with books, with discussion resources and with each other. Nothing more, nothing less. We do not sell books, issue certifications or operate as a formal educational institution. We are a community platform — a meeting point for people who love literature and want to share that love with others.

Our work is rooted in the belief that reading cultures grow through access and conversation. When people have the right books and the right questions, remarkable discussions happen naturally.

How We Curate Book Lists

Every reading list on Association Lit is assembled by people who read widely and think carefully about what makes a book worth discussing in a group setting. We consider literary quality, cultural relevance to Egyptian readers, accessibility across age groups and the richness of themes a book opens up for conversation.

We do not accept payment from publishers or authors to include books on our lists. Inclusion is based entirely on editorial judgment. We also welcome suggestions from our community — many of our most valued additions have come from readers who wrote to us about a book that changed their thinking.

Community Submissions

Reading groups, schools, libraries and community centers across Egypt can submit their events to appear in our calendar. We review submissions to ensure they align with our community values — events should be open, inclusive and focused on reading and discussion rather than commercial promotion.

We do not charge for event listings. The calendar is a community resource, maintained to help readers find each other.

Non-Commercial Principles

Association Lit does not operate as a commercial publisher, a bookshop or a certification body. We do not issue reading certificates, accredit book clubs or provide any form of formal educational qualification. Our resources — guides, templates, reading lists — are offered freely to anyone who wants to use them.

We do not have affiliate arrangements with booksellers. When we mention where to find a book, we are sharing information, not earning a commission. This independence allows us to recommend books on merit alone.

Privacy and Data

When people contact us or submit events, we collect only the information needed to respond and maintain the calendar. We do not sell data. We do not share contact information with third parties without explicit permission. Our full data practices are described in our Privacy Policy.

If our approach to any of the above changes, we will update this page promptly and note the date of revision at the top. We want anyone engaging with Association Lit to understand clearly what they are engaging with at any given time.
